''Earthstain 1''

Earth (Malham Cove, North Yorkshire) on canvas, with limestone pieces.
224cms x260cms.

This was the first painting that I made using earth and water from a specific location to stain a canvas (with, in this instance, local stone also being used).

It was included in the work I exhibited for my degree show at the Royal Academy Schools, and was bought by an american lady, who had it shipped back to the States as a rolled-up canvas and box of stones.

It seems almost unbelieveable now, when everyone is so much more business and career focussed, but I have no record of either who the buyer was or what happened to the work.
